Vision Therapy Seminar
We invite you and your colleagues to attend a seminar on learning related vision problems and vision therapy. As educators, you are aware of the daily struggle some children have with reading, writing and processing what is being taught. Many children have visual deficiencies that go untreated. In fact, it has been estimated up to 25% of school aged children have a visual deficiency that is impacting their ability to learn. Please join Jeffrey Oakland, OD as he speaks about the importance of the visual system and how it relates to learning.
A native of Sioux Falls, Dr. Oakland received his bachelor’s of art degree from Augustana College, and his doctorate degree in optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Oakland then continued his education with an accredited yearlong residency in Pediatrics/Binocular Vision where he taught and received additional training in the treatment of many binocular vision disorders. Dr. Oakland’s current practice emphasis is in pediatric vision and vision therapy.
Optometric vision therapy is the art and science of improving and enhancing visual and vision information processing skills so that the individual achieves the best possible visual performance and comfort in all daily activities. In Vision Therapy, we do not “train the eyes or eye muscles” but rather re-educate the brain so that the eyes can work together as a team.
This seminar will cover what vision therapy is, what visual deficiencies can be remediated with optometric vision therapy, signs of binocular vision problems, and signs of visual information processing difficulties.
Dr. Oakland is committed to providing the services needed to develop and enhance visual skills. We look forward to having you join us at this event.
